Wow.
Its been a while since I actually had this site working, (I think that makes this the 6th major site crash Ive had now). I never gave up on creating content, but with major exams coming up, projects needing finished, and a general lack of clue what broke, everything just got sat on the back burner.
So what actually happened?
Well to cut a long story short, the entire database for the site got wiped… My auto update script had apparently decided that my docker containers all needed new volumes instead of the ones they had been using the whole time. That meant that for 5 or so months, a docker volume containing the full sites database, sat, completely untouched, and I didnt even know.
You can imagine the surprise on my face when I was clearing old volumes to fix an unrelated drive and I stumble on untouched database files! Reattaching the volume was trivial and I just had to redeploy the stack to bring things back.
Whats up with those changes to the site too?
Ive decided to err on the more formal side with some of the content here now. Ive got impressions to keep now with potential employers and such, so some of my dry, blunt, autism humour had to be trimmed back to reasonable levels. The main core of the site will stay the same though, and I will let the edgy 2AM scribblings out at some points for flare…
Anyway, prepare yourself for some new stuff coming up soon, whether its recycled projects, new projects, or some secret failed ideas, if youre watching this site, youll be the first to see it all!
